Temple Newsletter #35

Welcome fellow seekers to this edition of the weekly newsletter of Temple Of the Standing Stones. I am Cianaodh Óg, High Priest and just another ordinary guy.

If you missed last week’s newsletter you can still see it on our website at: Temple Newsletter #34.

Deep, stimulating, discussions are sexy...
Deep, stimulating, discussions are sexy…

New Milestones Reached On The Forum! This past week our forum on the website had two significant events. We surpassed 1000 topics available for discussion and we broke the previous record of 44 guests and users on the site within a one hour period. As of this past Wednesday the new record is now 50 on within the same hour. Woo-hoo! So, why is that significant? Well, although most of those people who visit are guests (people who have never registered an account or are not logged in) it is a sign that more people are finding us online and taking an interest in what we are posting on the publicly available boards. It’s worth noting, I think, that this 50 number does NOT mean we only had 50 visitors all day long. No, that number is just a one hour slice of time in which we hit a peak of simultaneous visitors. I usually check in on the forum several times each day at all hours day and night. Typically I see an average of 10 guests online any time I visit. Sometimes there are fewer, sometimes more. You can see the number for yourself at the bottom of the forum and if you’re logged in you can even see what boards and topics they are browsing. Our average daily traffic is probably somewhere between two to three hundred visitors. So that’s pretty good for a small time operation like ours and that makes it a good place to post any original writings you might have and want to get seen by the browsing public.

That, and the 50 weekly subscribers we have on this newsletter too. We still take submissions if you’re interested in having your work featured by the way. The traffic we receive on the forum eventually leads to new people possibly coming to one of our events to learn what we are all about and perhaps considering becoming new members or at least friends. So that’s a good thing right?! You bet it is! We like more fun folks to explore our spirituality with. Each new person we meet and discuss things with provide both ourselves and them an opportunity to learn and grow.

Writings: I have some newly penned awen from a couple of my bardic friends to share this week. The first comes from temple brother Ta’li Seabhac.

As the Sun sinks down
Behind the Harvest hills,
The Moon’s soft glow signals
The Autumn chills,
Awakening the spirit
The fires erupt
Within the hearths of the homes
We all warm up,
We sit close together
As the flickering dance calls
Upon the shadows coming alive bouncing upon every wall,
We sit there in silence entranced
By popping sounds,
The wood burns Orange
The late hours coming round.

Tis the season of the dead
Oh what beauty Lies ahead
When the trees release their leaves of colors yellow brown and red.

Samhain night approaches
Thin veil a Step between.
Our Ancient & recent lost ones are calling hear them sing.

Ta’Li Seabhac – October 8th, 2015

Another was penned by a fellow OBOD brother of mine….

Man will always gauge their wisdom by the books the read.
So much that those who do not follow it will end their existence by that rede.

As I walk down this path, I feel the whispers that I cannot see.
That we sometime forget, thousands of years of love is the reason that we be.

But some will refuse to look through the eyes of the Human kind.
That in front of them is Mother’s lost child left to die.

With Father on high and Mother left to care.
Some of us are awaking from the night, if we so dare.

So remember you are here for a short while.
Live, love and treat everyone with a smile.

Gwilym – October 4th, 2015.

We will have games, music and social time as well as a fine ritual to share with all. This event will be hosted at Cianaodh’s home in Arlington, Texas. Gathering in at 5PM for social time, ritual to begin at 8PM. Address will be given upon request to those who are attending.

Alie’s Birthday and Temple Day – Saturday, October 17th, 3pm til 11:45PM.

It’s Alie’s Birthday! Well, Friday, the 16th was actually but we’ll celebrate on Saturday. 🙂 Soooo, come join us and enjoy some social time with the temple and tribe.

Our temple days are days of crafts, lessons, board games, music and general communing with our tribe. Sometimes we watch a movie together, other times we play board games, sometimes we have impromptu music jam sessions, poetry reading or story telling. The point is to have an opportunity to get to know one another and build the bonds of spiritual family. Won’t you come join in with us?

This Temple Day will be held at Cianaodh’s home in Arlington, Texas. The address will be given upon request to those who plan to attend. We will be working on converting our collected toilet paper and paper towel tubes into glowing eyes for this Samhain’s Haunted Trail as we camp out in Da Woods as well as other crafts and preparations while we celebrate Alie’s 16th Birthday. 🙂
